Bulletin #1

As a metal fabricator, it is our job to manufacture parts to our customers specifications and deliver their products in a timely manner.

In addition, AMETECH offers the additional services to assist you design the most cost-effective parts. We are all looking for ways to cuts costs that don't degrade the quality of the products we manufacture. While most of the items I will discuss here and in future bulletins are not "NEW" they may be new to you. Hopefully you will find ways to reduce your costs and/or add additional value at no extra cost.

Clinch Nuts sometimes known, as "Pem" nuts are used a great deal in sheetmetal designs. Depending on the type and the quantity of these nuts installed in your products they can cost you anywhere from $.15 to $.20 each. Would you be interested in a process that will save you $.13 to $.18 per clinch nut? The savings could grow an additional $.10 to $.20 per hole if the "pem" nut needs to be masked prior to painting.

By using a second tool for each of the chinch nut positions we are able to extrude a hole that will take a self-tapping screw. The cost of self-tapping screws over tradition screw is minimal. The resulting tapped hole is very strong and will never push out of its hole.

Our customers that are using this feature have tested the strength of the extruded hole by turning the torque in their screwdrivers to the maximum without stripping the holes.
